Back in March 2007, I gave a talk on Internet Business to an audience of over 150 people. The talk was organised by Kelab Ekoniaga – Berita Harian and was held here at Wisma Indah.
One of the key topics covered during the 2-hour session was regarding domain name. I mentioned it is important for businesses to own their domain name primarily to put emphasis on their branding. Another reason to own a domain name is the cost. A top level domain name (such as edborhan.com) costs around US$5.99 annually, while a country-level domain name (such as edborhan.com.sg) starts from about S$30.00 annually. The cost varies across different registrars and also depends on the kind of bundled packages that the businesses opt for.
